The quest
A 10-day fly-in safari combining Samburu, the Maasai Mara and Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy. Samburu brings rare northern species, the Maasai Mara the Big Five and open plains, and Lumo a community-run conservancy bordering Tsavo West.

Samburu
Samburu, in northern Kenya, is known for rugged landscapes and riverine forests. It is famous for rare species such as Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich, along with elephants, lions and leopards. Wildlife viewing is excellent and often more private due to fewer vehicles.
Maasai Mara
The Maasai Mara is one of Kenya’s most famous safari destinations, known for open plains and a high concentration of wildlife. The reserve is home to the Big Five and offers game viewing year-round. It is best known for the Great Migration, when wildebeest and zebras cross the plains and rivers in search of grazing.
Lumo
Located in Taita-Taveta County, Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy covers over 48,000 acres and borders Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and Tsavo West National Park. This community-run conservancy supports conservation through ecotourism and is known for elephants and big cats, as well as buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelope and rich birdlife.

Day 1: Into the Wild: Samburu
Morning flight to Samburu
Your adventure begins with a morning flight to Samburu. On arrival, you will be transferred to Samburu Lodge, beautifully set within Samburu’s distinctive landscape. The afternoon calls for your first game drive, with opportunities to see rare northern species such as Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe. As the sun sets, return to the lodge and let the sounds of the bush settle around you. Overnight at Samburu Lodge.

Day 2 to 3: Deep in Samburu
Two full days to immerse yourself in Samburu, with three meals a day and two shared game drives a day in open 4x4 vehicles. Overnight at Samburu Lodge.

Flight Maasai Mara to Taita Hills Airstrip via Nairobi
Fly from the Maasai Mara to Taita Hills Airstrip via Nairobi. Stay at Cheetah Tented Camp in Lumo Conservancy and enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 8 to 9: Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy
Spend two days at Cheetah Tented Camp in Lumo Community Wildlife Conservancy. Stay in comfortable tents with private bathrooms and enjoy sweeping views toward Tsavo West. The camp sits within a dramatic conservancy landscape bordering Tsavo West.

Day 10: Nairobi
Scheduled flight to Wilson Airport
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive through Lumo Conservancy before your transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi.
